Representing real hip-hop in the 805 and Ventura County, the unique style of Mic Doja is taking hip-hop in a new direction. Since 1993, solo artist Mic Doja has been producing beats on the underground scene and has recently released his debut album, The Rise. With the goal of bringing REAL music back to the hip-hop culture, his music speaks on life issues and has an upbeat positive feel. With such music influences as Tupac, Outkast, Nas, E-40, and Common, Mic Doja is sure to get you grooving with a style unlike any other.
Born in Columbus, Oh on Halloween 1979, Micah Dunson moved with his parents to Oakland, CA in 1989. After moving to Oxnard, Southern California, he began to play bass guitar in an alternative rock band. Soon after he began to produce beats and started to write songs. It wasn’t until mid-2008 that he decided to release an album. With the help of J.P. of Castaway Studios, producer John “Whitty Beats” Whitt and artists like Adriel, 3ize and F.I.R.E, Mic Doja released his much-anticipated Debut album The Rise this summer 2009.
Currently Mic Doja is promoting his album and performing shows throughout the Ventura County. Some of his past performances included Hip-Hop Night at Rock City Studios, as well as the 6th Annual Mar-B-Que. Mic Doja is also working on his next album scheduled for summer 2010 release. With an emphasis on trying to expand hip-hop and infuse different sounds and types of music into it, Mic Doja is paving the way for a new breed of hip-hop artists.
